The next step to success is to reach out.

No matter the brilliance of any given idea, if people don’t know about it, they’ll never buy it.

As discussed yesterday, make a habit of expressing yourself. This habit helps you to find your voice. Every voice resonates with somebody, somewhere. It’s what drives human interaction. With the advent of the Internet, reaching out is now easier than ever before.  You don’t need to spend a penny.  All you have to do is produce content.

Of course, there are ways to optimize the content so that you show up on search engines.  There’s a whole industry based on search engine optimization. The current state of the market is not simply keyword stuffing, but consistent, relevant content.  It’s what makes people read your stuff over and over again. If you have a voice and produce regular content, you’re going to be heard. As I mentioned in an earlier post about the Flat Earth Society, even verifiably stupid ideas get a following.  So, HOORAY! You are not at the bottom of the totem pole.  You have a chance.

Take me for example. As of December 12, 2017, I have published about 20 pieces.  So far, I have no readers.  However, I keep writing so that I can clearly hear my own voice. I expect over time, as I begin to put some money into advertising, I’ll develop an audience. Why am I working to develop an audience? Because I want interaction. I want to hear what they have to say about starting and developing businesses.  I want to hear about successes and failures and how accounting and legal policies influenced those events.

So for now, I have nothing but words. In the future, I expect that to change.  I will of course, keep updating this blog to document that change.
