I read an article in the Wall Street Journal today about retailers failing to use emails for optimal results.  Retailers frequently have a list of contacts and use it to sell product but they don’t dig into the data they have on the contact to make sure the emails are opened.  I’m learning that there seems to be no limit on data parsing that won’t pay off.  OK, maybe that’s overstating it a bit. But seriously, data parsing = good.  Seth Godin mentioned recently that simply doing business as usual will not be sufficient going forward since the advent of Amazon.  Now shopping needs to be an experience.  Data parsing will help to determine what kind of experience the customer is looking for.
