When I was as an accountant, I occasionally had to use new systems. I hated it every single time. I resisted switching away from Windows XP until Windows said they weren’t going to support it any more. The one constant in my life after college has been Excel. I can’t imagine any other system. OK, that’s not entirely true, I’ve used other stuff when I had to. Now the consulting class is telling us to move away from Excel. Fortunately, I don’t have to use a spreadsheet for anything too complicated. I can understand how advanced users feel as they move into the cold dread of learning a new system.
As humans, I think change is part of life. We either learn something new or we get caught unprepared for problems that are coming our way. Still, I hate it.
